What Is Pulp Therapy?

Pulp therapy, often referred to as a “baby root canal,” is a dental treatment designed to save and restore a severely decayed or infected primary tooth’s pulp (the innermost part of the tooth). This treatment aims to maintain the tooth’s health and function until it’s time for the permanent tooth to erupt.

Types of Pulp Therapy

There are two types of pulp therapy we offer that can restore the function of the tooth.

Pulpotomy: This involves removing the infected pulp from the crown portion of the tooth while leaving the healthy pulp in the root intact. A restorative crown is then placed on the tooth to protect it from further damage.

Pulpectomy: In more severe cases, the entire pulp, including the root canal, may need to be removed to eliminate the infection. A restorative crown is then placed on the tooth to protect it from further damage.
